Healthy Soil, Healthy Community Initiative is a collaboration of Metro Atlanta community partners who have organized a series of workshops, demonstrations, soil testing, events, and technical assistance in partnership with Food Well Alliance to help support community gardening.
Better soil in gardens will improve plant health and growth, and can decrease pests and disease. Soil is the foundation of good gardening practices, and learning about soil ecology will help you grow more food!
Composting is a great way to build the health of the soil in your garden, and to observe how nature recycles materials back into soil. So come learn with us, and celebrate soil as the foundation of life!

Atlanta Community Food Bank’s Community Gardens program offers assistance to more than 100 new and existing gardens across Metro Atlanta. Volunteers and neighbors come together to grow fresh, healthy food to nourish communities and neighborhoods. We encourage local gardeners to plant an extra row of veggies in their gardens and donate the harvest! Last year’s effort garnered 106,292 pounds of fresh fruits and vegetables.
Global Growers Network creates opportunities in sustainable agriculture for diverse families in Georgia by growing good food, training farmers, and providing economic opportunity. We manage multiple community gardens, offer educational workshops, host volunteers and school trips, and aggregate and distribute fresh vegetables from a network of local farmers. Global Growers is an independent nonprofit organization based in Atlanta, GA.

Terra Nova Compost Cooperative is a compost education and consulting organization led by Corinne Coe and Khari Diop. Terra Nova Compost aims to transform our natural and social environment through the science and art of making compost. Together Corinne and Khari have nearly four decades of experience growing food, making compost, and teaching others to do the same. Terra Nova Compost offers a full range of composting services in Atlanta and frequently works across the U.S. and internationally.
