Growers Panel

This year’s growers panel is all about Sowing Community. Now more than ever, it’s important to build strong communities—and what better way than through growing food? We’re excited to welcome four amazing panelists who will share how they’re using agriculture to foster connection, resilience, and empowerment.

IvoRi Schley is an Atlanta native, fiber artist, geographer, environmental educator, and urban farmer—just to name a few. She is the co-founder and education director of Afro Agriculture LLC, which offers nature, arts, and self-sufficiency programs to marginalized communities in Georgia and North Carolina. Afro Agriculture is rooted in the pursuit of earthskills—for the land and for the culture—to promote mutual aid, community engagement, and Afro-futurism.

Rebecca Schuyler is the garden leader at John Lewis Elementary School. Her journey gardening began with a butterfly garden donation from Dunwoody Nature Center. She saw how excited the students got watching the life cycle of Monarch caterpillars, and wanted to find more ways to get the students in the garden. After completing Fernbank Science Center’s School Master Gardener program, Rebecca established garden beds for every grade level, which include 6 vegetable garden beds planted by different classes and a thriving orchard.

Tisha Staples, M.Ed. is a STEM Coordinator and elementary STEM Exploratory teacher with over 25 years of experience in community outreach and more than a decade in education. She leads innovative STEM agriculture programs in Clayton County Public Schools that feature school gardens, aeroponics systems, a community orchard, and strong partnerships with local organizations. Tisha is passionate about using urban agriculture as both a teaching tool and a means of empowering communities to turn education into action.

Yennenga Adanya, affectionately known as Queen Yenn, is a dynamic entrepreneur, Master’s-level educator, life transformation coach, minister, and certified meditation instructor. As the founder of both Oyun Ministries and Oyun Botanical Gardens, she cultivates spaces—both physical and spiritual—that support healing, growth, and community resilience. With over a decade rooted in Atlanta’s urban agriculture scene, Queen Yenn transforms underutilized land into thriving spaces and builds sustainable, income-generating programs that strengthen community resilience.
