City Agriculture Plan Application
Deadline to apply is Friday, November 22 at 11:59 p.m.
OVERVIEW
This is the initial application for your city to be considered for the development of a City Agriculture Plan in partnership with Food Well Alliance (FWA) and the Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC). We are excited that you are interested in bringing City Agriculture Planning to your city!
We encourage you to review the application documents as well as the list of application questions before beginning. To avoid loosing any of your answers, we recommend completing them in a separate document before filling out the application form.
Applications are open to cities in Clayton, Cobb, DeKalb, Fulton, and Gwinnett counties.
If you have questions, attend the Virtual Open House on Wednesday, November 6 to learn about what the planning process looks like. This is a great opportunity to ask questions and get information about the application. You can also reach out to Sr. Policy & Planning Manager Sarah Brown at sarah@foodwellalliance.org.
JOINT APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS
In order for the application to be considered, it must be submitted with the endorsement of both a city official and a member of an organization local to your city that is committed to the implementation of the final plan. We hope that this joint application structure will foster communication between your city’s local government and implementation partners regarding the importance of local food and urban agriculture.
MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING
If your city applies and is selected to develop a City Agriculture Plan, your Mayor and City Council will be required to review and approve a Memorandum of Understanding with partners FWA and ARC. This document will outline the roles and responsibilities of each partner organization, including the city partner, and will guide the working relationship through the community engagement and planning phases.
Here is a draft of the city’s expected roles and responsibilities. This is subject to review and revision by all partners in the context of the timeframe and specific city selected. All meetings and events will be evaluated in the context of public safety recommendations and may be held virtually or in person.
