For summer 2017 UGA Extension is offering an intensive two-day workshop designed for the school garden challenges of Georgia’s teaching professionals. Join us this June to upgrade your gardening skills, increase the use of the garden in your classroom, and network with other professionals.
Day 1 – June 21st - Research and Education Garden, Griffin
9:00am - 3:00pm
Topics that will be covered include:
- Soil health and compost
- Planting for the school calendar
- Insect management and entomology in your classroom
Note: We will be in the garden for most of this day so you will want to dress appropriately! Don’t worry we will have plenty of cool water and will work in the shade as we can.
Day 2 – June 22nd - UGA Griffin Campus
9:00am – 2:00pm
- Tips for holding a taste test in your classroom
- Resources and lesson plans
- Food safety in the garden
- Tour of the UGA Seed Lab
