Compost is an essential input for growers to improve and maintain healthy soil. In addition to other soil health-building practices a farm may use, compost puts nutrients back into the soil, supports beneficial microorganisms, increases soil’s water retention, and helps grow healthy, productive harvests. Compost also completes an important part of a local food system when food scraps and compostable materials are diverted from landfills and used as a key ingredient in producing nutrient-rich compost to feed our soil and grow healthy, local food.
To support farms in maintaining healthy soil and the role of compost in our local food system, Food Well Alliance is working with CompostNow to starve landfills and provide farms in Clayton, Cobb, DeKalb, Fulton, or Gwinnett counties with a 15-cubic yard delivery of high-quality, food scrap-based compost. Delivery requests can be made now through April 30, 2022.
