Apply Now for the Community Compost Advocate Training Program
/Terra Nova Compost is proud to host Atlanta's first Community Compost Advocate Training Program. The six-day course will be held at the Lake Claire Community Land Trust on June 11-12, June 18-19, and June 25-26. Class starts at 8:30am and ends at 5pm each day.
The course has six components: 1. The Art & Science of Composting, 2. Bin Design & Bin Build, 3. Vermiculture, 4. Soil Science, Soil Health & Climate Change, 5. Field Trip to Local Compost Sites, and 6. Community Engagement, Social Justice, Compost Entrepreneurship, & Participant-led Compost Workshop.
The course is limited to twenty participants. We are looking for community leaders and future leaders who may already be involved in local agriculture projects and want to deepen their knowledge of composting, vermiculture, soil health and soil-building. After three consecutive weekends of in-class training and field trips, all participants will be required to perform 32 hours of volunteer service hours on a compost-specific project. All service projects must be approved by Terra Nova Compost in advance. Service hours must be completed by November 30, 2016.

The course is free and open to residents of Fulton, Dekalb, Cobb, Clayton and Gwinnett Counties.
