Position Description:
This is a full-time mid-level position for a self-directed individual with a commitment to integrity, quality, and a passion for agriculture and its people. Employee will be responsible for the application of food safety, quality, and regulatory requirements and principles against established standards and protocols. The position requires analytical and objective evaluation of farm and facility policies, practices, and observations. Applicants must have extensive knowledge of the agriculture industry (particularly fruit and vegetable production), food safety, and sustainability standard systems and certification.
The position requires extensive domestic travel and occasional international travel.
Location requirements: West Coast to Mid-West
Auditor Job Responsibilities:
Conduct food safety, sustainability, certification, and customer specific audits primarily in the fresh produce area as well as other food industry areas on farms and in food facilities
Ensure customer compliance with established certification standards by examining records, reports, operating practices, and documentation
Communicate audit findings by preparing a final report and discuss findings with auditees; prepare reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing operating information and trends, with a high degree of integrity and quality
Demonstrate knowledge and skills in HACCP; must be able to complete HACCP training certification
Demonstrate ability to become highly proficient with GFSI auditing requirements. Must be able to successfully complete GLOBALG.A.P., PrimusGFS and Third-Party Auditor Training. Other schemes upon request
Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies
Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed, including assistance in developing, implementing, and maintaining certification and audit programs

Auditor Job Qualifications:
BSc/MSc required in food science, agriculture and/or environmental science, or related field
Minimum 3 years industry experience in a practical capacity on a farm or in a technical production management role related to food crops, preferably fresh fruits and vegetables required
Documented evidence of training or experience in integrated pest management, pesticide handling, fertilizer use, farm equipment, and water quality required
In-depth knowledge of agricultural standard systems and certification in the areas of food safety, environmental sustainability and social accountability, particularly for crops required
Must be able to travel domestically and internationally, including ability to obtain a passport
Driver’s license is necessary
Lead Auditor Training /Qualification (e.g., ISO 9001 QMS) desired
Knowledge in the areas of livestock and aquaculture an advantage
Spanish language fluency an advantage
