Community Gardens

The Community Garden team has been hard at working installing signage at community gardens who received a three-bin compost system in 2019. The signage reminds gardeners of composting best practices and allows community members to learn a little more about these structures. If a garden does decide to accept offsite food scraps and applies for an EPD permit-by-rule, the signage also helps with eligibility for this process. 

Additionally, we continue to host volunteers at community gardens. In the last few weeks, we’ve hosted 13 volunteers at Hope the Garden, Camp Truitt 4-H GROWL Garden, and Tapestry Garden, serving 39 total hours! The volunteer program will be on a brief hiatus for the next few weeks but will be back in January. See you soon! 

City Agriculture Planning

The Policy & Planning team has been working behind the scenes with the East Point Steering Committee and East Point City Council on the City Agriculture Plan. The Council will review the draft City Agriculture Plan in the first quarter of 2020 and we hope to update you in the near future. 

Giving Tuesday

December 2 was Giving Tuesday, and we are amazed by your response. 

Every dollar you donated to Food Well Alliance matters - and thanks to a match from our board - every dollar donated was DOUBLED to equip our local growers with resources to ensure more families, individuals, children and seniors have access to fresh, healthy food grown right here in metro Atlanta. We are thrilled to announce that we exceeded our $22,000 goal and raised $26,975!!!

To everyone who donated, we cannot thank you enough for your generosity, but we also cannot say thank you without the voices of the growers in our network.
