Eligibility Criteria
Representatives from Food Well Alliance and the Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC) will jointly select the next city to participate in the City Agriculture Planning process. Cities must be in our five-county service area, which includes Clayton, Cobb, DeKalb, Fulton, and Gwinnett counties.
Preference will be given to cities that have the following assets and/or qualities in no particular order:
City staff from one or more departments committed to participating in the planning process
Enthusiastic residents eager to participate in the community engagement process and the implementation of plan recommendations
Prior experience participating in a successful planning process with ARC and/or another planning organization
Diverse stakeholders who are interested in strengthening the city’s food system
Multiple local food and agriculture organizations that could leverage plan resources to build a stronger, more connected, and more resilient food system
These may include: community gardens, urban farms, school gardens, active backyard gardeners, farmers markets, farm-to-school programs, farm-to-table restaurants, cooperative grocery stores, or other local food and agriculture-focused organizations
