Inspire Atlanta: Get Involved with Food Well Alliance - AJC

To maximize opportunities during COVID-19, Food Well Alliance is focusing on providing land prep, compost, and other support to urban farms and community gardens. Starter kits for home gardens are offered in partnership with Wholesome Wave Georgia, and the Alliance is reviving school gardens in partnership with Captain Planet Foundation. Recently, 50 families in East Point received three bucket gardens, as part of the Alliance’s Bucket Brigade program.

The creation of Food Well Alliance was made possible through funding from the founding benefactor, the James M. Cox Foundation, and through the vision of Jim Kennedy, chair of Cox Enterprises, and Bill Bolling, founder of the Atlanta Community Food Bank. Together, they saw an opportunity to build healthier communities across metro Atlanta by supporting and connecting members of our local food movement. Today, we support more than 300 community gardens, urban farms and orchards in the Atlanta region.
