In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Food Well Alliance has cancelled all events and convenings until further notice. During this time we are focusing our attention on allocating critical resources to our farm and garden partners and creating virtual experiences for metro Atlanta residents who want to remain engaged in the local food community. This blog will be updated with new resources and developments on Thursdays.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

Food Well Alliance facilitated the distribution of PPE to farmers, markets, and partner organizations across the state, including 1,466 bottles of hand sanitizer - courtesy of Tito’s Vodka - 5,000 gloves and masks, as well as 20 hand washing stations.

Special thanks to Global Growers Network, Community Farmers Markets, Georgia Organics, Metro Atlanta Urban Farm, Truly Living Well, Wholesome Wave Georgia, and AgLanta for receiving and distributing the PPE to their staff, members, and customers.

Plant a Row for the Hungry

During this time of unprecedented need, Food Well Alliance is stepping up our support for the Plant a Row for the Hungry campaign. Our work is twofold:

  1. Support gardeners who are interested in donating - or already donating - produce to food pantries.

  2. Track the pounds of food donated.

Learn more on our Plant A Row webpage, here. Harvest season is just beginning, but over 35,000 pounds of fruits and vegetables have already been donated to food pantries!

Urban Farm Support

Food Well Alliance hired Charles Greenlea and his team at Eco-PARADIGM to provide labor support at farms as the summer growing season hits full speed. Charles and his expert farmers have been in action at Metro Atlanta Urban Farm in College Park and High Hog Farm in Grayson to help with tasks like planting, farm site maintenance, and farm construction projects.
