HERB PLANTING WORKSHOP

Georgia Master Gardener Mary Hines will guide us through the “joy of herbs,” and all their uses, from medicinal to culinary to decorative. She’ll walk us through containers, soil, light & water requirements, cool & warm season herbs, annuals vs. perennials, transplanting, harvesting, fertilizers, and maintenance. Then we’ll plant seeds together, and you’ll leave with a starter tray with a variety of herbs you can use in the months ahead! A variety of amazing herb-inspired small plates will be provided for attendees to dine on by Serendipity Catering, and Chef Louie will give us his “chef’s tips” for cooking with your herbs once they grow.

About Mary Hines:

Mary is a lawyer by profession, but a gardener at heart. She has been a Master Gardener in DeKalb County since 2009 and volunteers as a speaker primarily for the Wylde Center and the Decatur Library. Her specialty is organic edible gardening – herbs, fruits and vegetables. She has a 1-acre garden with 15 raised beds, 24 different fruits, and herbs absolutely everywhere. She also has five chickens and one dog!
