Gwinnett Technical College in partnership with Alegre Farm in Dacula, Georgia is offering courses designed to enhance skills and appreciation of sustainable agriculture in farming practices for homeowners that are economically viable, environmentally sound and socially responsible, but yet productive. We provide learning opportunities that transform the lives of people, organizations, and communities. Students will learn both theory and practical skills.

Gardening year round is easy and rewarding in our mild Georgia Piedmont region climate. For delicious, picture-perfect spring and summer crops of spinach, lettuce, peas, kale, and broccoli, Plant care in critical at this time, learn the ins and outs of fertilization and watering. Tips on harvesting vegetables at the peak of their flavor. Identify early season plants that have passed their prime, pull them out and replant. Learn how to cut back or eliminate the use of pesticides.
Topics will include harvesting, pest control, and sustainable production. The processes needed to produce high yield through-out the entire summer and the ability to harvest at the correct time for peak flavor.
